Our Story
In 2022, one of our team members needed an urgent sexually transmitted diseases (STD) test in Okinawa, Japan. She had to visit three different gynecology clinics before finding a doctor who gave permission to get tested.
However, her symptoms only warranted coverage for testing bacterial infections through health insurance; she had to cover the expenses for other tests entirely on her own. As a young professional, this isn't the kind of expenditure manageable on a monthly basis.
It took another week for the results to come back, and receiving them required another appointment with the same doctor.
After moving to Tokyo in 2023, it became clear that foreigners were not the only ones who had similar experiences.
Furthermore, around the world the access to medical care and resources involved are not evenly distributed.
This is how we decided to start Nado Health.
